LFA Boss Wins Second-Term CAF Top Executive Post on White-Ballot

Monrovia, Liberia: The President of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), Mustapha Raji, has won an Executive Committee Member position for the second consecutive term of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) at the CAF’s 14th Extraordinary General Assembly held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in the Egyptian City of Caro.
Raji and other elected officials of CAF are set to serve a four-year term in overseeing the development of football across the African continent. The LFA President's unopposed re-election comes with overwhelming confidence from his colleagues after serving his first term.
Following his re-election, the LFA boss underscored his influential role in African football governance and highlighted the trust and respect he holds within the football community.
"His leadership on the continent has been characterized by a clear vision that aligns with the goals of FIFA President Gianni Infantino and CAF President Patrice Motsepe to develop football at all levels and make the sport truly global," the LFA said in a statement.
Meanwhile, in the bigger picture of the CAF 14th Extradition General Assembly, which was held on Wednesday, March 12, CAF Dr. Patrice Motsepe retained his post uncontested to steer the affairs of African football for the next four years.
The 63-year-old South African, who has been CAF President since 2021, was announced re-elected, signifying his commitment to football development in Africa.
Speaking after his re-election, CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe vowed to dialogue with various countries heads of state to commit their governments to investing in football development across the continent.
He at the same time acknowledged the challenges most football member associations faced their countries in receiving funding and erection of playing facilities through their respective central governments.
Dr. Mustapha underscored that his leadership will pursue a case for every member association state that will encourage support for football while the body strides to develop the sport across every African football state.
"There is a contest in every African country in terms of limited budgets and economic constraints. So, one of the things we are doing as Africa Football, is making a case, to pursue and dialogue with heads of state that investing in football infrastructure is enormously beneficial for the country and the economic development of Africa," CAF President Dr. Motsepe noted following his re-election.
