CDC Suspends Deputy Speaker Fallah Over Alleged Attempt to Unseat Speaker
Monrovia—The Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has announced the suspension of Deputy Speaker Thomas P. Fallah and ten other lawmakers, accusing them of attempting to unseat House Speaker J. Fonati Koffa.
The party cited CDC’s internal guidelines and rules as the basis for its decision, directing those involved to appear before its National Disciplinary Committee (Grievance and Ethics Committee) for investigation.
The lawmakers suspended include:
1. Deputy Speaker Thomas P. Fallah – Rep. District #1, Lofa County
2. Hon. Alexander Poure – Rep. District #1, River Gee County
3. Hon. Isaac B. Choloplay Wuo – Rep. District #2, River Gee County
4. Hon. Johnson S. N. Williams – Rep. District #3, River Gee County
5. Hon. Julie F. Wiah – Rep. District #2, Lofa County
6. Hon. Momo Siafa Kpoto – Rep. District #3, Lofa County
7. Hon. Ivar K. Jones – Rep. District #2, Margibi County
8. Hon. Emmanuel Yarl – Rep. District #4, Margibi County
9. Hon. Clarence Gahr – Rep. District #5, Margibi County
10. Hon. P. Mike Jurry – Rep. District #1, Maryland County
11. Hon. Samson Q. Wiah – Rep. District #2, Sinoe County.
The CDC directive calls for the temporary suspension of these lawmakers, urging them to face investigation over their alleged role in challenging Speaker Koffa’s leadership.
In response, Deputy Speaker Fallah issued a statement affirming his loyalty to the CDC and President George Weah.
He reflected on his dedication to the party, highlighting his efforts to boost CDC's support in Lofa County during recent campaigns. "My love and loyalty to the CDC and to our leader, President George Weah, have been unwavering," Fallah stated.
Fallah acknowledged the suspension and expressed willingness to participate in the internal investigation.
"I fully submit to our internal process led by the grievance and ethics committee, understanding the importance of addressing the concerns as raised," he wrote.
Fallah further emphasized that his actions in the Legislature are motivated by a commitment to transparency and the welfare of Liberia, and he remains hopeful that the party will recognize his intentions as serving the national interest.
