Commerce Minister Amin Modad Resigns Amid Public Outcry Over Vehicle Purchase

Amin Modad has resigned from his position as Liberia’s Minister of Commerce and Industry following public criticism over the purchase of a vehicle worth over $45,000.
Despite providing documentation to clarify that there was no wrong doing in the transaction, Modad expressed concern about the impact of the controversy on both his integrity and the administration.
In his resignation letter, Modad stated, "This continues to be a distraction from the real national issues and your agenda."
He emphasized that he had served the position with "integrity and passion" over the past nine months.
Modad also extended his gratitude to the administration for the opportunity to serve and expressed hopes for a better future for Liberia.
This resignation comes as the government continues to face scrutiny from the public over spending and transparency.
