Gardnersville, Liberia: Determine Girls have finally tasted a defeat after their long-run, 10-game winning streak in the LFA Upper Women's League this season ending with a narrow loss to Bushord Queens.

The current league leaders conceded 2-1 to fourth-placed contenders, Bushord Queens on Saturday, December 21st, at the Tusa Football Field in Gardnersville, marking their first defeat in 11 league games this season.

Bushord Queens stood their ground against front-runners Determine Girls following separate strikes from Mary Kiah and Naomi Wonshia in both sides' climaxing fixture of Phase One of the Upper Women's League on Saturday.

Despite the defeat, Determine Girls remain at the top of the league table with 30 points, 4 points cleared over eye-rivals Shaita Angels. Determine Girls have played 11 games winning 10 and drawing 1, the best stats so far for any club in the league this season.

The race for the championship title continues to heat up as title-rivals Shaita Angels pulled a 3-1 over Soccer Ambassadors in their final first phase fixture to move back in the second place with 26 points on the back of Determine Girls.

The 2024-2025 Upper Women's League has witnessed a tough competition between Determine Girls and Shaita Angels who seem to be the major title rivals in recent seasons.

However, Determine Girls will be hoping to return to winning ways after their recent defeat against Bushord Queens when the second phase kicks off.

The league has taken a mid-season break as clubs will go preparing to continue their fight for the championship title in the second phase that is expected to kick off in a few weeks from now.
