Emmanuel Flomo’s African Dream Grows As Al-Hilal Hands Liberian Teen Fourth Champions League Appearance

Sudan:Liberian teenage forward Emmanuel Flomo has reached four CAF Champions League appearances for Al-Hilal Omdurman, continuing his rapid rise on the continental stage while still waiting for his first start in Africa’s premier club competition.

Flomo has been introduced from the bench in all four of his CAF Champions League appearances, including both legs of Al-Hilal’s first-round qualifying victory over Aigle Noir. His growing involvement represents another important step for the 18-year-old, who is increasingly being trusted in high-level African football despite his limited starting opportunities.

The Liberian’s continental breakthrough follows an impressive 2025/26 campaign in which he established himself as one of Al-Hilal’s most promising young attackers. He was named Best Young Player of the 2025/26 BK Pro League, an individual recognition that underlined his impact during his first full season with the Sudanese giants.

Flomo was particularly productive in front of goal last season. He finished as Al-Hilal’s leading scorer in the BK Pro League with 12 goals, helping the club produce 73 goals during the campaign. Al-Hilal finished the regular campaign with 75 points from 34 matches, recording 23 victories, six draws and five defeats.

His form also included important moments in big matches. In July, Flomo scored the goal that initially gave Al-Hilal a 1-0 victory over Al-Merrikh in the Sudanese title decider, although the result was subsequently overturned after Al-Hilal were sanctioned for breaching the league’s foreign-player regulations.

Before moving to Al-Hilal, Flomo had already demonstrated his goalscoring ability in Liberia with LISCR FC. The Liberia Football Association records him scoring twice against Discoveries SA in November 2024 and another brace against Global Pharma FC in January 2025, while other records credit him with a productive 2024/25 campaign for LISCR.

That progression has now taken the Liberian youngster from domestic football in Monrovia to the CAF Champions League, where he is competing against some of Africa’s established clubs and players. Statistical records confirm his continued association with Al-Hilal and his CAF Champions League involvement, although available databases differ on the precise breakdown of his appearances and minutes.

For Flomo, the immediate challenge is converting his growing continental exposure into a starting role. Four appearances from the bench show that Al-Hilal’s technical staff continue to see value in his pace, attacking threat and goalscoring ability, but the next milestone will be earning his first CAF Champions League start and proving that last season’s remarkable form can be carried onto Africa’s biggest club stage
