Liberia Loses Respected Traditional Leader as Grand Bassa's Supreme Grand Zoe Edward Garmah Dies
Grand Bassa, Liberia:The Grand Bassa County Administration has announced the death of its Supreme Grand Zoe, Edward Garmah, who passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at his residence in District One, Grand Bassa County.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the county administration described the late Garmah as a highly respected traditional leader whose lifelong service was dedicated to preserving Grand Bassa's cultural heritage and promoting peace, unity, and reconciliation within the county.
"The late Supreme Grand Zoe Garmah was a respected traditional leader whose contributions to the preservation of the county's cultural heritage and the promotion of peace and unity will be remembered by the people of Grand Bassa and Liberia at large," the County Administration stated.
The administration said his passing marks a significant loss not only for the traditional community but also for the people of Grand Bassa and Liberia, noting that his leadership and commitment to customary values earned him widespread respect.
The County Administration extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, the traditional community, and all those mourning the loss, praying that God grants them strength and comfort during this difficult time. Funeral arrangements, according to the administration, will be announced by the family in due course.
