Court Compels BMC to Produce All Project Files Linked to Clar Hope Foundation

Monrovia, Liberia: The Clar Hope Foundation, a high-profile charity established by former First Lady Clar Marie Weah, has become the center of an expanding investigation as authorities push for deeper transparency surrounding the construction of its flagship project, the City of Hope in Marshall, Margibi County.

The foundation, created to support underprivileged children, vulnerable girls, and disadvantaged communities, has long been praised for its humanitarian goals. Its major undertaking the City of Hope features a modern school, vocational training center, and dormitories intended to house and empower at-risk girls.

However, the project is now drawing heightened legal attention.

On Tuesday, Judge Roosevelt Willie of Criminal Court “A” issued a writ of subpoena compelling BMC Building Materials to surrender all documents related to the construction of the City of Hope. The order follows a formal petition by the Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Task Force, which is probing how the project was funded, the materials used, and whether any state resources may have been improperly involved.

The subpoena demands full disclosure of contracts, invoices, receipts, and any other construction records linked to the Clar Hope Foundation’s facilities. Investigators say the documents are crucial as they work to verify financial transparency and trace the origins of all materials used in the multimillion-dollar project.

The Clar Hope Foundation has not yet issued a public statement regarding the investigation.

The case continues to generate public and political interest, as Liberians await further details on whether the foundation’s construction process adhered to legal and ethical standards. More updates are expected as the court proceeds with the matter.
