Dorley Begins Saudi Pro League Era with Al-Taawoun

Saudi Arabia: Liberia’s national team captain Oscar Dorley has opened his new career chapter in the Saudi Pro League, making his debut for Al Taawoun over the weekend.

The 28-year-old midfielder was subbed on in the 58th minute in his side's 3-2 defeat to Al-Kholood.

Dorley joined the Saudi Pro League side from Slavia Praha on a two-year contract. Though not disclosed, his transfer deal is believed to cost over 2million euros.

Dorley’s move to Saudi Arabia brings an end to his seven-season spell with Czech powerhouse Slavia Prague, where he established himself as one of the most respected Liberian players competing at a high level in European football.

He made over 140 league appearances, scoring 9 goals and securing 4 Czech First League titles.

Now wearing the colors of Al-Taawoun, the Liberian captain faces a new challenge in a Saudi league that has rapidly grown into one of the most watched and competitive competitions in Asian football.

His arrival is also being viewed as another major step for Liberian football, with Dorley joining the growing number of African stars seeking new opportunities in Saudi Arabia.

Known for his composure, technical quality and ability to influence the midfield, Dorley is expected to add experience and leadership to an Al-Taawoun side looking to make its mark in the Saudi top flight.
