Kingdom Cup Offers LRD 200,000 Prize as 16 Third and Fourth Division Teams Prepare for Pre-Season Showdown

Paynesville, Liberia:The Kingdom Cup, a new pre-season football tournament targeting third and fourth division clubs in Liberia, is set to provide a competitive platform for emerging football talents, with 16 teams expected to battle for the championship at the Soul Clinic Barracks Field in Montserrado County.

The tournament is organized by J. Melton N. Yoko, Chairman of the Montserrado Sub-Association of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), and sponsored by Kingdom FC, a newly established football development program focused on empowering young people through godly leadership. The competition aims to give lower-division clubs an opportunity to prepare for upcoming football campaigns while showcasing their talents.

Speaking about the initiative, the organizers described the Kingdom Cup as an opportunity to strengthen grassroots football and create a platform where young players can demonstrate their abilities, attract attention, and develop their potential. With 16 teams participating, the competition is expected to provide an important test of quality, discipline, teamwork, and determination among the clubs.

The stakes will be high, with the tournament champions set to receive LRD 200,000, a trophy, and medals, while the runners-up will take home LRD 50,000 and medals. The prize package is expected to motivate participating teams to compete for the title and make the most of the pre-season opportunity.

Beyond football, the Kingdom Cup will feature educational incentives, including one-year scholarships for three students. The scholarship awards, valued at US$300 each for a combined total of US$900, will be presented during halftime at the two semifinal matches and the final. The initiative reflects the tournament's stated commitment to combining sports development with educational opportunities for young people.

Spectators will also have opportunities to win prizes during halftime breaks, with organizers planning giveaways that include rice, cash, mobile data, and other items. The biggest attraction is expected during halftime of the final, when one lucky spectator will have the chance to win an iPhone 16 Pro Max, adding another dimension to the tournament beyond the action on the pitch.

With 16 teams preparing to compete at the Soul Clinic Barracks Field, the Kingdom Cup is positioning itself as a platform for lower-division football development, youth empowerment, and community engagement. Organizers are expected to provide further details about the participating teams, fixtures, and tournament schedule as preparations continue, while the competition's success will ultimately depend on the quality of football, organization, and opportunities it delivers to players and supporters.
