Watanga FC Stretches Unbeaten Run with Stunning Victory against Jubilee FC
MONROVIA, LIBERIA: Watanga Football Club delivered another stellar performance over the week, defeating Jubilee Football Club 2-0 to extend their unbeaten run to 10 games in the ongoing Liberia Football Association (LFA) First Division League season.
The Warriors outshined Jubilee FC in both halves of the match on Friday, November 28th, at the Gompa Sports Pitch in Ganta, Nimba County. Forward Daniel Nyemah opened the scoring for Watanga FC, finding the back of the net just a few minutes before the halftime whistle.
Watanga FC returned from the break with no signs of complacency, maintaining intense pressure on their opponents. Their persistence paid off when Varney B. Varney doubled the lead in the 65th minute, sealing a thrilling 2-0 victory over the visitors, Jubilee FC.
The triumph keeps league leaders Watanga FC firmly at the top of the table. Coach Theo Geekor’s side has won 7 matches and drawn 3 from 10 league outings.
The Warriors currently sit on 21 points at the summit of the league table, 4 points cleared over second-placed LISCR FC, who trail with 17 points.
Watanga FC has demonstrated strong determination in their pursuit of the 2025/2026 LFA First Division championship. The club has secured victories against top rivals including Paynesville FC and Borough FC, while holding defending champions FC Fassell and second-placed LISCR FC to draws.
Sports pundits believe Watanga FC is enjoying one of their best campaigns since winning the league title in the 2023/2024 season.
The two-time champions endured a difficult run last season, going winless in their first 5 league matches. They later doubled up and ended 3rd on the league table.
The club's impressive form this season has sent a strong message about their readiness to challenge once again for the championship crown.
However, sports analysts are of the view that the championship race remains wide open, with several crucial fixtures still ahead.
