Executive Mansion Launches Investigation Into Leak of Pres. Boakai’s 3rd SONA Address

The probe, being conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of State, was confirmed by Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah, who described the incident as a serious breach of protocol and internal security at the highest level of government.

According to Minister Piah, excerpts of the President’s address were published by some media outlets minutes before President Boakai concluded the speech, raising concerns over the handling of sensitive government documents and the integrity of official state communication channels.

“The premature release of a national document of this magnitude is highly unprofessional and unethical,” Minister Piah said, stressing that the leak undermines public trust in national institutions and violates established standards governing official government communications.

He emphasized that individuals entrusted with access to official information are expected to uphold the highest levels of professionalism and ethical responsibility, warning that any violations would be addressed in line with the law.

Minister Piah disclosed that the ongoing investigation is aimed at identifying the source of the leak and ensuring accountability, while the government reviews additional measures to strengthen information security and prevent similar incidents in the future.

The disclosure was made during a press conference at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT), where the Information Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and strict adherence to institutional procedures.
