Paynesville: In an effort to provide a better life through vocational training for many young Women in Liberia, particularly those at low income levels, Jolahouse Foundation, Center for Development and Entrepreneurship over has graduated several women in professional tailoring.

Jolahouse Foundation is a non for profit institution, located in Benard Farm, Montserrado County and has graduated hundreds of women and since its establishment in the area in 2014.

According to Mother Elfreda Mayson, proprietress of Jolahouse Foundation, the skill training program has since provided real quality Tailoring education to scores of women from diverse backgrounds.

“We’ve been doing this for a decade plus now and we only survive on family support to run the program after which we keep the graduates in our employ. They make nice African attires, we sell them and monies raised from the sale are used to buy additional materials and pay them. We do this to ensure that besides the training they can also be able to become breadwinners for their individual families''. She narrated.

She said the key focus of the program is to make women of low income backgrounds get on a path with their male counterparts where they can help with some domestic financial needs.

‘’I feel pleased today, seeing another badge of women I have invested so much into, walking out with such unique skill that they never had before coming here” Madam Mayson.

Though Jolahouse is mostly sponsored by her immediate family members and friends abroad, Madam Elfreda Mayson is also seeking more support from donor partners and the government to help push the institution's dream ahead.

For their part, Roseline Kora and Mamie Miakeh, both student and beneficiary of the Jolahouse Foundation in separate remarks thanked Madam Mayson and her family for their efforts in making sure that they are empowered through Professional Tailoring and other training.

‘’ Prior to our coming here, we did not know how to easily raise our own money through our hand work, many of us only depended on our husbands and family members but right after acquiring such skill, we can assure you all that our families and relatives can now depend on us for meaningful contribution going forward. We bless God for you Mommy, Elfreda Mayson” they expressed.
