Montserrado County District League Takes New Twist: Four Districts Book Tickets to Semi-finals

Monrovia, Liberia: The 2024 Montserrado County District League is gaining momentum by the day as the 17 participating districts have been reduced to four in the semi-finals of the tournament.
The new twist of the tournament has seen districts #2, #7 #15, and #17 advanced to the last 4 in the semi-finals after their respective victories against districts #10, #11, #6, and #5 in the quarter-finals.
In a mouth-watering game in the first batch of quarter-final matches during the week, District #2 narrowly whipped District #10 (1-0) with the winner coming from substitute Josephus Jimmy. While District #15 made a great comeback against District #6 from 2-3 down in the first half to a 5-3 win in the full-time to advance to the Semi-finals at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia.
The tournament returned to another exciting moment on Wednesday, July 31, at the ATS as District #17 swept out District #5 (4-1) with a brace from talented younger star Prince Martor and a goal each from Josiah Lactro and Jad Nyanford. The surprise of the day came when defending champions District #11 succumbed to District #7 (2-5) failing to push and her championship.
The 2024 Montserrado County District League is set to resume from Semi-finals with District #2 going up against District #17 and District #15 locking horns with District #7, in a contest for the championship. All matches are expected to go down at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.
The District League is a part of the Liberia Football Association organized activities to make football a continued process and to bring up and market talents in football at district levels.
