NEC Kick-starts Rerun Election in Old Sodoken Polling Places 1 and 2

Pleebo: As instructed by the Supreme Court of Liberia to conduct a rerun election at polling places one and two in old Sodoken, Pleebo, Maryland County, the National Elections Commission (NEC) early Thursday morning began the process of voting in the area.

The rerun came as a result of a complaint filed by former speaker Bhofal Chambers that there were traditional mask (Country Devil) intervention during the October 10, 2023 election.

Chambers believes that said disruption favored Anthony Williams thereby leading the national election commission announcing him as winner at that time.

Pleebo District Police Commander J. Max Roberts told Knewsonline.com that a team of security personnel from the Liberia National Police (LNP) and the Police Support Unit (PSU) have arrived from Monrovia to Maryland to buttress the efforts of the security folks in the county in safe guarding the electoral process.

Though the nine candidates who contested the Representative seat in Pleebo District still surface on the ballot but only the two major rivals are highly discussed: Former house speaker Bhofal Chambers and Anthony Williams.

International and local election observers are reportedly on the scene as the process of voting is ongoing.

The results from Old Sodoken today, will determine the legitimate winner of the election in District #2, Maryland County.
