The Ministry of Public Works concluded a comprehensive site visit to several road corridors in Monrovia and its surrounding areas on Thursday, March 28, 2024.

Led by Minister Giddings and his principal deputies, the team conducted inspections of major Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP) projects.

These included significant infrastructure developments such as the Banjor Road, Necklay's Town Concrete Pavement, Johnsonville to Dry Rice Market Road, Johnsonville to Mount Barclay Road, Small St. Michael to Patience Shop Road, Freeport to St. Paul Bridge Road, Pipeline to Johnsonville Road, and the Soul Clinic, among others.

Speaking to a group of reporters during the site visit, Minister Giddings emphasized that future contract awards would be based solely on performance. This marks a departure from previous contracts, many of which were either underperforming due to technical limitations or were subject to payment defaults by the past administration.

Minister Giddings clarified that the ministry's priority is to address existing contracts before initiating new ones.

In a parallel initiative, the ministry has launched a "Sustainable Community Partnership Engagement" program. This initiative involves providing communities with access to ministry equipment to facilitate the clearing and opening of alleyways.

The pilot phase of this program commenced successfully in the New Israel Community, where Ministry of Public Works equipment was utilized yesterday.

The initiative aims to extend to other communities across Montserrado as part of the ministry's efforts to enhance connectivity and infrastructure development.
