Rude Awakening, CDC Plunders Flows from all sectors of public lives, Part 1!

Montserrado County: What is believed to be some of the reasons why the former ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) came to its heed in the 2023 presidential and legislative elections has been revealed.

Before the electoral process across the country in October of 2023, Liberia’s staple food, rice, completely disappeared from stores and shops, with mounting public concerns about shortages that saw several protests in every corridor of the country.

Reacting to the rice saga, then opposition to the CDC, Alternative National Congress (ANC) political leader Alexander Cummings attributed the shortage of rice on the Liberian market to high-level incompetence by former Liberian leader George Weah.

Amid the hard cost of living under the Weah-Taylor administration, documents have revealed that the government was engulfed with what pundits described as wasteful spending over the last six years.

Documents in the possession of Knewsonline further uncover that the Coalition for Democratic Change during the elections was receiving donations from other institutions to carry out its campaign activity, an act pundits believe the government under Weah and Taylor were never in the interest of the masses, but got interested in enriching themselves at the detriment of the suffering population of Liberia.

It is reported that the National Port Authority was among those government entities that contributed.

Documents in the possession of Knewsonline shows that the CDC received donations for programs held in five communities on July 17, 2023 including Doe, New Georgia, Logan Town, St. Paul Bridge and Freeport Communities respectively. The sum of US$9.950.00 each was given to two individuals namely; P. Wilson Topoe and Lassana Keita.

The following details flowing state clearly that the government of former President Weah. Never prepared for exit, what else is there to discover from other institutions? How would such act be committed so broadly by individuals appointed to protect public wealth and create vast confidence in the public sector?

The asset recovery committee will be doing the work of recovering assets. What about national economic crimes, who deal with it, bring individuals to justice, and change the story on impunity nationally.
