Wildfire Leaves Several Homeless in Joe Bar Community

Paynesville: A three-bedroom house in Paynesville Joe Bar on Tuesday afternoon was gutted by fire, leaving several individuals homeless. The devastating blaze quickly spread throughout the property, causing extensive damage and leaving dwellers of the house without place to sleep.

The incident occurred at approximately at about 1:00 PM local time when thick plums of smoke were spotted billowing from the house.

Eyewitnesses told knewsonline.com that the fire had already engulfed a significant portion of the house by the time community dwellers arrived to help and despite their best efforts, the intensity of the flames made it difficult to contain the fire, resulting in extensive damage of the property.

The house, which had been home to several individuals, including families  roof collapsed, and the walls were left charred and crumbling.

Fire outbreak has been a normal deal in Liberia over the years. National Fore Fighters normally blame their delay to respond to the lack of proper fire fighting equipment that will help quench fire outbreak faster whenever it occurs.

Despite fruitless calls to the former CDC led government to empower the Fire Service, many are now hoping that the newly inducted Unity Party government to make available better budget for them in ensuring that the entity functions properly and effectively.

So far, the cause of the fire is yet to be established while affected families are calling on the National Disaster Management Agency and goodwill individuals to provide support for them.
