Worried Woman Blames ELWA over Medical Complications

Monrovia, Liberia: A Liberian woman has taken to social media, pleading for answers following a series of medical complications that she claims resulted from her treatment at ELWA Hospital.
In an emotional post, Jamesetta Kugmeh recounted that she visited the hospital on February 24, 2025, for a routine Antenatal Care (ANC) checkup.
According to her, doctors informed her that she was past her due date and required induction.
Despite explaining that her first pregnancy also involved a delayed delivery, she says the medical team insisted on proceeding with induction.
Jamesetta Kugmeh further stated that after enduring hours of pain without success, doctors recommended a Caesarean section (C-section) the following day due to her cervix failing to dilate. Although her partner initially objected, she agreed to the procedure, believing it to be a routine operation.
However, she claims the procedure resulted in severe complications, including kidney failure, requiring eight rounds of dialysis, liver complications, removal of her womb, collapsed urethra, and burn injuries on her legs and back.
The patient expressed frustration over what she described as delayed referrals and a lack of clarity about her deteriorating condition.
"I need answers from ELWA Hospital. I want to die knowing why you killed me," she wrote in her emotional appeal.
She is now calling on the Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC), the Liberian Board of Nursing & Midwifery, and the Ministry of Health to investigate her case.
The woman, who is currently admitted at JFK Medical Center, is urging the public to share her story as she seeks answers and possible solutions to her worsening health condition.
