Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen Could Assist Barcelona Financially this Summer
Barcelona's ongoing financial struggles may force them to make significant sales this summer to balance their books. However, another potential source of revenue could come from triggering sell-on clauses for players they've previously sold.
One such player is Francisco Trincao, who Barcelona officially sold to Sporting CP last summer. Reports from Bild (via MD) suggest that Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen is interested in signing the 24-year-old winger, who has impressed with six goals and four assists in just 12 starts for Sporting this season.
Barcelona retained a buy-back clause and a 50% sell-on fee as part of the agreement with Sporting. This means they stand to receive half of any transfer fee Leverkusen pays for Trincao, should they pursue him in the upcoming summer transfer window.
