MONROVIA, LIBERIA: The Minister of Youth and Sports, Cllr. Jeror Cole Bangalu, on Saturday , December 27, 2025, praised Zorb Social Athletic Club, a veteran football organization, for eleven remarkable years of promoting sports development in Liberia.

Speaking at the club's anniversary celebration on the campus of the Monrovia Vocational Training Center (MVTC) along the Japan's Freeway, Minister Bangalu lauded the club's dedication, resilience, and contributions to veteran football.

He highlighted Zorb's efforts in fostering unity and camaraderie among veteran sports enthusiasts.

"For eleven years, this club has been a beacon of hope and inspiration, showing that age is just a number when it comes to passion and commitment to sports," Minister Jeror Cole Bangalu intoned.

"Your perseverance and zeal are a testament to the power of sports in bringing people together and promoting healthy living," he added.

Established in 2012, the Zorb Social Athletic Club has consistently organized sports activities, including football and other recreational events, engaging veterans and promoting intergenerational sports participation.

Minister Minister Bangalu also used the occasion to urge other old folks sports organizations to emulate Zorb Social Athletic Club's example, emphasizing the importance of teamwork, discipline, and community engagement in sports development.

For his part, the President of the Zorb Social Athletic Club, Mr. William Tuazama, has vowed to ensure unity and cohesion within the team as they strive for excellence in veteran football.

Mr. Tuazama emphasized the importance of teamwork and solidarity in achieving success on the pitch.

Zorb President also expressed gratitude to Minister Bangalu, for honoring the invitation to take the kick-off of the daylong tournament.

Mr. Tuazama praised Minister Bangalu for his unwavering support for veteran sports saying "We are honored to have you with us today, Minister. Your presence speaks volumes about your commitment to our collective efforts in promoting sports development in Liberia."

Meanwhile , Minister Bangalu reiterated the Ministry's support for veteran sports organizations, emphasizing the importance of their role in shaping Liberia's sporting future.

The anniversary celebration featured friendly football matches among eight teams, with the host , Zorb Social Athletic Club losing the trophy to FOFA Old-timers in a 1-0 defeat in what football enthusiastics described as a highly competitive  match.

The daylong event was attended by officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and veteran athletes, all of whom lauded the Zorb Social Athletic Club's efforts in promoting veteran football.

Zorb's anniversary serves as a testament to the power of sports in bringing people together and fostering unity in Liberia as the country continues to rebuild its sports sector.
