Richard Nangba Koon Confirms Official Invitation to Ghana’s Inauguration
Margibi Liberia: Controversial Speaker and head of the majority bloc, Representative Richard Nangba Koon, has confirmed that he was officially invited by the Government of Ghana to attend the inauguration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama. The ceremony, set for January 7, 2025, will mark Mahama’s second term in office.
Speaking to Executive Mansion, reporters, Koon shared that he would be traveling to Ghana alongside President Joseph Nyuma Boakai. He also revealed his intent to discuss legislative reforms during his visit.
“I will be asking the Ghanaian government for support in reforming our legislature,” Koon stated. “That’s the primary message I’m taking to Ghana.”
In addition to Koon, a few members of the Liberian legislature, including officials from the executive branch and the foreign affairs committee, are expected to attend the inauguration.

When asked if Speaker J. Fonati Koffa would be part of the delegation, Koon responded, “I’m not aware of that. If Speaker Koffa is in Ghana, he is there on his own.”
Joining Koon, President Boakai, First Lady Kartomu Yata Boakai, and Foreign Minister Sara Blyslo Nyanytee are attending the inauguration as part of the official delegation.
The inauguration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama will take place on January 7, 2025, in Accra, Ghana.
