Boat Owner Breaks Silence, Denies Drug Trafficking Claims As Unidentified Vessel Drifts Onto Liberian Coast

Monrovia, Liberia:A Canadian national identified only as Charlie has come forward claiming ownership of an unidentified vessel recently found along the Liberian coastline, while strongly denying allegations that the boat was used for drug trafficking or other illegal activities.

Charlie, who said he has traveled in and out of Liberia since 2006, explained that he originally purchased the vessel as a work boat for a mineral exploration and sand-sampling project in Liberian rivers. According to him, the vessel was acquired for legitimate business purposes and was not intended for criminal activities.

He said the mineral exploration project was later put on hold because he could not secure the financial resources needed to continue the operation. Charlie explained that after the project stalled, he began considering the possibility of using the vessel for fishing.

According to Charlie, the boat was eventually left unattended and later lost its moorings after it was allegedly looted. He said the vessel then drifted into the ocean and moved along the Liberian coastline before reports emerged that it had been spotted around South Beach and later at Miami Beach, where it was reportedly anchored.

Charlie said he has already communicated with police officers about the vessel and that an officer familiar with both him and the boat had acknowledged his claim of ownership. However, he said he had not yet appeared at police headquarters but expected to continue discussions with authorities regarding the vessel.

Describing the boat, Charlie said it is a strong and well-built vessel equipped with two diesel engines that have relatively low operating hours. He acknowledged that the boat has suffered some wear and requires repairs but maintained that it was built according to international shipping standards and designed to operate as far as 50 miles offshore.

Charlie also rejected suggestions that the vessel was connected to narcotics trafficking, saying he owns two similar boats that had remained parked for an extended period near the St. Paul River. He said the existence of multiple vessels under his ownership should not be interpreted as evidence of criminal activity.

“I have not personally gone to the place where the boat was found,” Charlie said, explaining that he remained in Brewerville handling telephone calls and making arrangements to retrieve the vessel. He said he expected the matter to be addressed through discussions with the relevant authorities.

The discovery of the unidentified vessel has sparked public concern and speculation over its ownership, how it reached the Liberian coastline and whether it may have been involved in criminal activity. Charlie’s claims, however, place the vessel at the center of a disputed ownership and maritime mystery that authorities are expected to clarify through further investigation.
