JUST IN: Samuel Gongben Kogar of the MDR has won the Nimba County Senatorial By-election!
The National Elections Commission (NEC) announced today that Kogar received 62,136 votes (52.08%), beating his closest rival, Edith Gongloe-Weh, who got 40,506 votes (33.95%).
The results were announced in Sanniquellie after votes from 736 polling places were counted. Voter turnout was strong, with 119,302 valid votes cast.
Kogar’s win marks a big moment for Nimba County.
