Monrovia, Liberia: Liberia First Division League side LISCR Football Club has announced the return of former manager Sam Chebli as the new Head Coach of the club on a two-year deal.
Coach Chebli's return follows the expiration of interim Coach Kelvin Sebwe's deal at the end of the 2025/2026 Liberia Football Association First Division season.
Chebli steps in as the seventh manager of the Shipping Boys in the last two seasons. During his first spell, the club won five trophies in two and a half seasons before his departure in 2024.
However, LISCR FC has since struggled for consistency in form, finishing the 2024/2025 season in 10th place and the just-ended 2025/2026 season in 5th place on the league table.
This has led to a series of changes in the technical and administrative arm of the team. During the 2024/2025 campaign, the club appointed and subsequently parted ways with Nigerian coach Oladeinde Babatunde, Liberian coach Theophilus Geekor, and Gambian manager Tapha Manneh at different intervals of the season.
Ahead of the 2025/202626 campaign, Belgian coach Alain-André Landeut was appointed but departed before the season began after overseeing preseason preparations.
In November 2025, Ethiopian coach Wubetu Abate was hired following an interim stint by former Liberian international Vamoh Kporto. Abate later left after about six weeks in charge, triggering another shift on the bench.
It then shifted to former Liberian International Kelvin Sebas an interim manager, who took charge till the end of the 2025/26 season.
Announcing Chebli's appointment on Monday, June 29, 2026, LISCR FC expressed confidence that his return as head coach will turn a new chapter in its history.
While away, Chebli coached other top Liberian clubs including Black Man Warrior, winning the FA Cup; and most recently Downtown FC, before marking his return to the Shipping Boys.
"LISCR Football Club is delighted to announce the return of Sam Chebli as Head Coach on a two-year contract".
"Coach Chebli returns to familiar territory after a hugely successful first spell. A proven winner. A familiar face. A new chapter begins. Welcome home, Coach", the club said in a statement.
All eyes are now on Coach Sam Chebli as he takes charge and prepares to push and bring the former champions back to prominence in Liberia's top-flight football league.
LISCR remains in search of the LFA First Division League title, since they last claimed it in the 2022/2023 season.
