Disappointment at Djibouti Encounter: Lonestar Missed Opportunities Leave Fans Frustrated”

The Lone Star of Liberia continues to seek a victory at the renowned Samuel K. Doe Sports Stadium, often regarded as their home turf.

The last time Liberians celebrated a victory was on October 9, 2019, with a 1-0 win over Chad, thanks to Kpah Sherman's goal in the 43rd minute.

Despite several homegrown players making their debut against Djibouti, whom many sports pundits described as susceptible to the Red, White, and Blue, the outcome fell short of expectations. This followed a significant promise made by the Chief Executive Officer of CT. Com Liberia/ Kool 919.9 FM, offering a thousand United States dollars (1000USD) for every goal scored by Lone Star as motivation. However, the players failed to capitalize on numerous scoring opportunities, leaving supporters frustrated. Consequently, aggrieved citizens resorted to criticizing the players for what they perceived as poor performance.

The goalless draw took place in the presence of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, Vice President Jeremiah Koung, Pro-temp Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence, and several other government officials.

Despite the renovations at the Famous Samuel Kayon Doe Sports Stadium in Paynesville, the Lone Star of Liberia has yet to secure a victory at the venue, playing five international matches without success.

On July 24th, 2022, Liberia was given the green light to host international matches at the Samuel Kayon Doe Sports Stadium, following their victory over Chad in October 2019.

In their inaugural international game at the SKD, the Lone Star of Liberia suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Senegal.

Since then, they have faced losses against Malawi, Equatorial Guinea, and South Africa.

The recent draw against Djibouti on Tuesday afternoon marks the Lone Star's fifth consecutive game at the SKD Sports Stadium without a victory.
