Margibi County: In the midst of economic hardship being poised on orphans across Liberia where begging has become their major source of livelihood, the Economic Community of West African States ( ECOWAS) has put smile on their faces in Lower Margibi County.
In May of this year while celebrating ECOWAS' 49th anniversary, ECOWAS Ambassador to Liberia Madam Josephine Nkrumah pledged to make available the sum of (US$5,000) five thousand United States dollars worth in materials to two Orphanages in Lower Margibi County.
The two Orphanages expected to benefit the ECOWAS' gesture include: Mother Bindu Vah and Danny Fenny, both in Barclay Farm and Cotton Tree respectively.
Making a comeback to her promise; Madam Josephine Nkrumah presented twenty bags of 25 kg rice, twenty cartoons of copy books, two bags of students back bags, DK bags, food and non-food items amongst others.
Speaking to Reporters just after the donation in Margibi, Madam Nkrumah said the materials worth five thousand United States dollars (US$5000) is ECOWAS' own way of contributing to underprivileged kids through the two Orphanage Homes.
Highlighting the hardship during the rainy season in the country, the ECOWAS' Ambassador to Liberia added that the need to support the young ones, especially those underprivileged kids is necessary.
She pleaded with other national and international NGOs, Humanitarian Organizations and Well-meaning Liberians amongst others to remember the kids in the Orphanages, adding; they need society most.
The ECOWAS boss to Liberia used the occasion informing Liberians that a team of expert trainers will be in the county next week to teach young adolescent girls how to use and make their own sanitary towels.
"Many young girls find it difficult with their menses and this also affects their education" Amb. Nkrumah noted.
As it stands, young adolescent girls of Mother Bindu M. Vah Orphanage and Danny Fenny Orphanage Homes are poised to benefit from a weeklong menstrual care training, being sponsored by the Economic Community of West African States ( ECOWAS ).
Remarking on behalf of the benefiting Orphanages, Mother Bindu Vah thanked ECOWAS through its Ambassador to Liberia, Madam Josephine Nkrumah for the gesture, terming it as a rainy season solution for the kids ( Orphans ).
Mot. Vah further described the fulfillment of ECOWAS' promise to the two institutions as great relief for them and will go a long way for the motherless and fatherless kids.
Out of excitement, Madam Vah reigned blessings upon ECOWAS saying" for helping those children, God will certainly bless your".
