Fahnbulleh Moves to Transform Education in Bong Mines with US$45,000 School Project

BONG MINES, Bong County — Bong County District #7 Representative Foday E. Fahnbulleh has broken ground for the construction of a new US$45,000 Nancy B. Doe Elementary School, describing the project as a major step toward improving educational infrastructure and expanding access to quality learning in the district.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held in Bong Mines on Saturday, brought together education officials, local authorities, traditional leaders, community members and residents, as the lawmaker officially launched the project funded through the National Budget under the Ministry of Education.

Speaking at the ceremony, Representative Fahnbulleh said the project was made possible through his legislative lobbying and efforts to secure funding for the district. He said US$45,000 was allocated in the national budget for construction of the new school building.

This project is the result of our legislative efforts to bring tangible development to the people of District #7. We fought for the resources because our children deserve safe and decent places to learn, Fahnbulleh said.

The lawmaker said the construction of the Nancy B. Doe Elementary School demonstrates his commitment to addressing long-standing infrastructure challenges facing schools in Bong Mines. He argued that improving education facilities must remain a central part of the district’s development agenda.

Fahnbulleh also credited the Unity Party-led government under President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for placing education among its development priorities. The improvement we are seeing in educational infrastructure reflects the government’s commitment to making education a priority. We will continue working to ensure our people benefit from that commitment, he said.

He urged residents to take ownership of development projects being implemented in their communities and promised to continue pursuing initiatives aimed at improving the living conditions of his constituents. Fahnbulleh also assured residents that he would continue advocating for the passage of legislation seeking to establish the Bong Mines Technical and Vocational Education institution once the bill reaches the Senate.

For his part, Bong County Chief Education Officer David Varney Boakai praised Representative Fahnbulleh for what he described as a forward-looking approach to education. We commend Representative Fahnbulleh for ensuring that children in this district have access to improved educational facilities. These investments are important to the future of our children, Boakai said.

Boakai said the project is consistent with the Ministry of Education’s broader efforts to improve educational infrastructure and quality learning across Liberia. He pledged to work with relevant authorities to monitor the construction process and ensure the project is completed according to the required standards, while the Nancy B. Doe Elementary School project becomes the third school building undertaken in District #7 under Fahnbulleh’s leadership in less than three years.
