Capitol Hill: The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) has attributed the current breakdown in Internet services in the country to a cut in the supply fabric cable.

The early morning hours of Thursday, March 14, 2024, users of internet services across Liberia started complaining about the lack of the service from the two GSM Companies operating in the country (Orange Liberia and Lonestar Cell MTN).

Meanwhile, the Liberia Telecommunications Authority confirmed a disconnect of the supply-line of Internet to Liberia.

During an appearance Thursday before the Plenary of the House of Representatives, LTA’s boss, Edwina Zacpka termed the situation as a regional problem and not Liberia only adding that she was reliably informed that Countries in the sub-region are also facing similar problem.

The LTA Commissioner General however informed the public that temporary efforts are underway to swiftly resolve the crisis.

Madam Zackpa narrated that Orange has asked the LTA to connect to Ivory Coast in order to relax the current challenge though this is the first of it's kind interms of internet service.

She added that the two GSM Companies (Orange and Lonestar MTN) will share the said temporary connection while genuine efforts are being made to amicably address the issue.

The LTA boss also stressed the need to acquire a second faber cable for Liberia to ensure stability in the provision of Internet services in the country.
