Mass Protest up Capitol Hill Leads to Roadblocks
Staffers at the Liberian Senate have besieged the main entrance of the Liberian Legislature in demand of additional sitting fees owed them by the Houses leadership.
The demonstration began early Thursday morning causing disruptions of the senate sitting and attracted significant attention from both the public and lawmakers.
According to the protesters their action comes as a result of the staffers' dissatisfaction with their current remuneration for attending legislative sessions. They argued that their workload has significantly increased due to the recent surge in legislative activities, and they deserve fair compensation for their efforts.
Chanting slogans and carrying placards with inscriptions; "No Pay no Session", the protesters set up road blocks at the front of the building preventing lawmakers from having access to the honorable House of the Liberian senate.
The group consisting of Clerks, Secretaries, Researchers, and other support staffs, demanded an audience with the Senate leadership to address their concerns.

They also highlighted the importance of their role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the legislature, emphasizing that their contributions often go unnoticed and unappreciated, despite being crucial to the effective operation of the Liberian Senate.
The Senate leadership, is yet to issue an official response. However, Knewsonline reporter indicated that discussions are underway to address the concerns raised by the staffers through Legislative channels.
