Monrovia City Mayor Rallies Citizens’ Commitment To Clean and Safe Environment

Monrovia, Liberia: In an effort to promote cleanliness and environmental health in Monrovia, Monrovia City Mayor John Cheruk Siafa has rallied communities’ support around the government’s effort to ensure a clean and safe city.
Mayor Siafa's call comes as part of a broader campaign to address the challenges of waste management and promote a sustainable urban living environment.
On Saturday, February 15, 2025, the Monrovia City Mayor joined workers from the Monrovia City Corporation in a citywide cleanup exercise to commemorate the official launch of the “Think Green, Act Clean” awareness campaign.
“Think Green, Act Clean” was focused on removing waste from major parts of the city to set the pace for community involvement.
Mayor Siafa, during the cleaning-up exercise, emphasized the importance of changing public attitudes toward waste disposal and highlighted the need for a collective approach to maintaining a healthy environment.
He urged all citizens to take responsibility for cleaning their surroundings and to prioritize proper waste management.
Also to ensure a sustainable cleanup effort, Mayor Siafa additionally encouraged business owners to invest in waste bins and place them at their various business premises.
The Monrovia City Mayor noted that such measures would help regulate trash disposal and prevent garbage from accumulating in public areas.
The cleanup campaign aims to foster community participation in environmental conservation efforts and to raise awareness about the negative impact of improper waste disposal on public health and urban development.
The Monrovia City Corporation has vowed to continue these initiatives in collaboration with residents, community leaders, and businesses, with the ultimate goal of transforming Monrovia into a cleaner and greener city.
