He said NASOWL recognizes this year's global theme as "Buen Vivir: Shared Future for Transformative Change, which is rooted in the Global Agenda and emphasizes the need for social workers to adopt innovative, community-led approaches that are grounded in indigenous wisdom and harmonious coexistence with nature.

At the same time, Prof. Geebro disclosed that Liberia will celebrate the day under a national theme: “Uplifting the Social Work Profession.”

“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, members of the media, every year, World

Social Work Day is celebrated on the third Tuesday of March. The day's celebration seeks to promote the contributions of the social work profession to individuals, families, communities and wider society. It is an opportunity for social workers to also educate the public about their profession and the ways in which they help individuals, families, and communities to enhance their well-being,” said Prof. Geebro.

“Additionally, Social workers use the occasion to advocate for policies and programs that support the well-being of people and communities, and to promote the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the profession and in the delivery of services.”
