Speaker Koon Battles Relationship Dispute; as Media Advisor Clarifies ‘Wife’ Claim

MONROVIA, LIBERIA: Vehzelee Sumo, Media Adviser to House Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon, has publicly accused Cecelia Kpor Koon of falsely presenting herself as the wife of the Speaker, stating that she is rather a biological sister of Speaker Koon.

In a statement released Wednesday, December 24, 2025, Advisor Sumo referenced an earlier disclosure labeled “Part 1,” in which he asserted that Cecelia Koon Kpor is listed as a daughter of the late Samuel Blamo Koon, Sr., the Speaker’s father.

He said the claim is supported by documentary evidence, including the late Koon’s funeral program, which he argues directly contradicts Cecelia’s public claims of being legally married to the Speaker.

“We established in Part 1 that Cecelia Koon Kpor is the biological sister of the Speaker and not his legally wedded wife, as she has publicly claimed,” Sumo stated.

Advisor Sumo announced that a second statement, “Part 2,” will be released shortly to address why Cecelia Koon Kpor opted to take the matter to public platforms such as Spoon Talk rather than pursuing resolution through the courts.

He suggested that the decision to litigate the issue in the media raises critical questions about motive.

The allegation has triggered sharp public reaction, with critics questioning the involvement of the Speaker’s office in what appears to be a family dispute, while others argue that the use of alleged false marital status carries potential legal and reputational implications.

As of publication, Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon and Cecelia Koon Kpor have not responded.

The Public attention is now fixed on the anticipated release of “Part 2,” as the controversy continues to unfold and attract national scrutiny.
