Sweden Giant AIK FC Signs Liberia's Young and Talented Striker Emmanuel Gono

AIK Football Club has agreed with Emmanuel Gono on an agreement that extends until December 31, 2027.

The striker has since the beginning of the year tested for AIK and was present in both training and practice matches played during the 2024 pre-season.

Gono is a player with enormous potential. But let us be patient with him and give him security and trust. Welcome Ema, says AIK Football's sporting director Thomas Berntsen.

I am very happy to sign for AIK and I am sure that I will have a good development at the club. I look forward to doing my best and helping the team move forward, says Emmanuel Gono.

18-year-old Emmanuel Gono was born on October 29, 2005, in Liberia. He most recently came from FC Kallon in Sierra Leone, before that he belonged to the Liberian club Muscat FC. He also played a trial game for the Italian club Udinese Calcio in the spring of 2023.

On January 9, 2024, AIK Football communicated that Gono would try out for the club during the pre-season, and he thus participated in the training camps held in Portugal and Spain.

His first minutes in the black and yellow shirt came in the training match at Grimsta IP against IF Brommapojkarna on January 27, 2024, when he was replaced in the 61st minute of the match in place of the two-goal scorer Jonah Kusi-Asare.

Barely a month later, on February 25, 2024, in a training match at Skytteholms IP against Karlbergs BK, his first goal in the AIK shirt came.

Abdihakim Ali provided the assist when Emmanuel headed the ball into the net in the 69th minute of the match - the final score of the match was written at 1-1.
