“There Is No Plot to Remove Speaker Koon” - Rep. Abu Bana Kamara
Capitol Hill, Monrovia: Montserrado County District 15 Representative and ranking member of the House of Representatives’ Rule of Law Caucus, Abu Bana Kamara, has dismissed reports suggesting that opposition lawmakers are planning to remove Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon, describing such claims as false and misleading.
Representative Kamara said members of the House are currently focused on addressing pressing national issues and carrying out the legislative responsibilities entrusted to them by the Liberian people, rather than engaging in efforts to unseat the Speaker.
He stressed that Speaker Koon continues to enjoy the confidence and support of a majority of lawmakers, noting that members remain committed to working under his leadership.
In a related development, Rep. Kamara announced that he will not seek re-election at the end of his current term. He disclosed that his future political engagement will center on campaigning for the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), particularly in support of the presidential bid of former President George Manneh Weah.
Representative Kamara made these remarks on Monday on the sidelines of the opening of the Third Session of the 55th Legislature.
