“Ungrateful Opportunist!” Ex-Rep Jimmy Smith Destroys Sen. Saah Joseph Over CDC ‘Betrayal’

Monrovia, Liberia: Former Montserrado County District #2 Representative Jimmy Smith has launched a blistering attack on Montserrado County Senator Saah Joseph, accusing him of betrayal, disloyalty, and political hypocrisy over recent comments Joseph made against the former ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).

Speaking during a news conference over the weekend at his Jacob Town residence, Smith expressed deep anger and disappointment, describing Joseph as a man who “benefited heavily” from the CDC but now turns around to publicly attack the same institution that lifted him into power.

I am surprised by the betrayal of Senator Joseph after depleting the CDC for several years,” Smith said.

I hope the party learned from his action. These are the same people that undermined us within the CDC.”

Smith’s comments come in the wake of Senator Joseph’s explosive remarks made in early August 2025 on Spoon Talk, a late-night Liberian radio and online television platform.

During the interview, Joseph accused former President George Manneh Weah and senior CDC members of corruption and governance failure, claiming the CDC-led administration allegedly “robbed the country” of millions of U.S. dollars through bribes collected from would-be investors whose projects never materialized.

In one of his most shocking claims, Joseph said he no longer sees any reason to remain with the CDC, alleging he was repeatedly marginalized, targeted, and ostracized even suggesting that some within the party went as far as plotting his death.

Joseph served as Chairman of the Senate Executive Committee during the Weah administration.

But former Representative Smith dismissed Joseph’s statements as not only reckless but deeply ungrateful, arguing that Joseph’s political rise and national status were made possible through the CDC.

According to Smith, it is hypocritical for a man who rose through the CDC to now condemn the very platform that gave him political relevance.
