Liberian Lawmakers Join Delegation at African Group of Negotiators Meeting in Germany

Berlin, Germany: Two members of the House of Representatives have joined an official delegation at the African Group of Negotiators (AGN) meeting currently ongoing in Germany.
The AGN meeting serves as a key preparatory platform for African countries to align their strategies ahead of upcoming global climate negotiations.
Representatives Anthony F. Williams, of Maryland County Sodokan District #2, who serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Banking, Finance, and Currency, and Montserrado County District #7 Emmanuel Dahn, Chairman of the Committee on Broadcasting and Information, are representing the Honorable House of Representatives at the event.
Their participation signifies Liberia’s deepening involvement in continental and global climate diplomacy.
In attendance with the lawmakers are Deputy Minister for Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jeddi Armah, and a delegation of climate change negotiators from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Liberia.
At the opening session, the Liberian delegation actively engaged in discussions aimed at harmonizing Africa’s collective climate agenda.
Representatives Williams and Dahn are utilizing their legislative oversight and policy expertise to ensure Liberia’s national priorities are reflected in the group’s unified voice in securing climate finance for national adaptation and mitigation projects, promoting equitable access to clean and renewable energy solutions, and protecting vulnerable communities disproportionately affected by climate change.
The lawmakers’ participation not only highlights Liberia’s ongoing commitment to climate action but also reinforces the country's institutional capacity to implement international climate agreements through domestic legislation.
This engagement is a strategic step toward aligning Liberia’s climate policies with broader African and global frameworks, ensuring that the nation remains a proactive and influential player in shaping climate decisions that affect the continent.
As the AGN continues its sessions, Liberia’s active involvement reflects a growing determination to contribute meaningfully to the international climate dialogue. By working alongside fellow African negotiators, the Liberian delegation aims to help shape a stronger, more unified African position on the global stage.
