Capitol Hill: Ambassador Tunde O. Ajisomo, the lead facilitator for the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) in Liberia has paid a courtesy visit to the minister of Internal Affairs, Francis Nyumalin Sr. at the Internal Affairs Office in Monrovia.

The purpose of the visit was to reaffirm the organization’s commitment to working with the Liberian government on various projects, including the Liberia Peace Building Office and the Traditional Justice System.

The Ambassador highlighted the importance of advancing the reconciliation process in Liberia to maintain peace and emphasized the need for empowering women in the country. He also mentioned the organization’s work in other conflict-affected regions such as Sudan, Somalia and Angola.

In response, Minister Nyumalin expressed gratitude for the support and emphasized the government’s dedication to reconciliation and unity under President Joseph N. Boakai’s leadership. The Minister stressed the importance of justice in sustaining peace and highlighted the government’s efforts in reconciliation and working towards establishing an economic court alongside a war crimes court.

Minister Nyumalin assured the Ambassador of the government’s commitment to supporting reconciliation and peace processes in Liberia. He also acknowledged the pivotal role played by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in the country’s peace process.
