Mahathi Management Apologizes for Delay in Compensation; Workers Demand Immediate Payment
Tensions are rising at Mahathi Company’s operational site in Buchanan following the announcement of postponed worker compensation payments.
In a letter from Project Manager Bagam Vijaya Kumar, the payment originally scheduled for September 20, 2024, has been rescheduled to September 27, 2024, due to unforeseen issues with fund release and banking processes.
Kumar stated, "Dear comrades, I sincerely apologize for the delay in the payment of the agreed compensation. We understand the inconvenience this may cause and are working diligently to resolve the situation as quickly as possible." He emphasized that the delay does not reflect the company’s commitment to its employees.
Despite these reassurances, the announcement has sparked significant anger among workers, many of whom have halted work in protest. The frustration stems from a reliance on timely payments for their livelihoods.
As Mahathi Company navigates this challenging situation, workers are calling for immediate action to address their concerns.
