Just in: Girl, 10 Gives Birth in Bong County
Bong County- A 10-year-old girl on Sunday, March 17, 2024 gave birth in Bong County, making her one of the youngest mothers ever in the world.
The unnamed girl who is from the Kpelle tribe arrived at the Goodwill health Center in Upper Bong, in tears and "enormous pain" from the contractions, according to the journalist's account.
She reportedly delivered her baby, who weighed 5 pounds, by cesarean section.
Experts say a C-section delivery for such a young mother is not unusual.
This is happening amidst efforts by state actors to curtail teenage pregnancy, though the father of the child is yet to be made known to the public.
