The Liberia Women's Under-20 National Team has been kicked out of the ongoing West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Women's U-20 Tournament taking place in Senegal.
The Lone Star females U-17's unbeaten run in the competition came to an end on Monday evening following a 3-1 post-match penalty defeat to Guinea Bissau in the Semi-finals after a 1-1 draw in the regular time.
Liberia led Guinea Bissau 1-0 approximately 30 minutes after the first-half break with a strike from youngster Jessica Quachie before the Bissau-Guineas leveled the score line to end the full-time 1-1 at the Stade Lat Doir Stadium in Monday's clash.
Shaita FC Alberta Pratt made the first save for Liberia in the post-match penalty shootouts but the team fell short of capitalizing on the opportunity as their counterparts triumphed 3-1 to reach this year's WAFU Women's U-20 Tournament final.
As it stands, Guinea Bissau will face host nation Senegal in the Final of the 2024 WAFU Women's U-20 Tournament, while Liberia will take on Guinea in the third place in the coming days.
