Koon Relieves Transportation Burden for G/Gedeh Tubman Hospital Health Workers

Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County: House Speaker Richard Koon has donated a fairly used 32-seater bus to health workers at the Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County, in a move that addresses long-standing transportation constraints.

Speaker Koon said his intervention followed an appeal by health workers at the facility for transportation service.

He noted that many had complained about responding to duty on time due to transportation constraints they face, especially workers in who live remote areas.

Presenting the 32-seater bus on Wednesday, September 24, Koon expressed confidence that the intervention will boost health workers effectiveness on the job and improve service delivery at the Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital.

Officials at the government-run Hospital said the bus donation marks the first individual transportation service provision gesture in the institution's decades of existence.

Further speaking, the donation ceremony, Speaker Koon vowed to lobby with his fellow lawmakers to address other burning issues of citizens in the county and undertake major development initiatives.

He noted that the donation marks the beginning of his kind gesture at the Hospital. "I came to Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital, I did not impose on you. You said Mr. Speaker, our bus is down and we need a bus".

"And I said, I cannot promise a brand new one, but a fairly used bus. I procured two used buses from the States and your own will be delivered today. Today is just the beginning" Koon said.

He furthered: "As a proud son of the Southeast, I will work with my colleagues, from the House of Representatives, the Senate, and by extension the Executive, to prioritize developments in the Southeast.

Meanwhile, receiving the 32-seater bus, the Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital management expressed gratitude to House Speaker Richard Koon for the initiative.

A representative from the Hospital described the bus as more than just a vehicle, stating that it will greatly help improve other services at the facility. The official assured Speaker Koon that the bus will be used for its intended purpose.

The donation ceremony at the premises of the Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital, brought together the senior management team of the Hospital, local and national leaders.
