Liberia National Police Issues Cautionary Measures Ahead of General Enforcement

Safety Measures Urged for Driving and General Public

Monrovia-The Liberia National Police (LNP) has issued a set of cautionary measures aimed at ensuring the safety of all individuals across the country, ahead of a planned general enforcement initiative. The measures, outlined by H. Moses Carter, Sr., Head of the Division of Press and Public Affairs at the LNP, are designed to promote safer road practices and compliance with relevant laws.

Removal of Unauthorized Emergency Devices

one of the key measures highlighted by the LNP is the removal of unauthorized vehicles equipped with high beam lights, sirens, flashers, and other emergency devices. This action aims to eliminate potential hazards and ensure that emergency equipment is only used by authorized personnel.

Right-Hand Drive Vehicle Restrictions

additionally, owners of right-hand drive vehicles are urged to take them off the streets, as these vehicles are not permitted to be driven in Liberia according to the Vehicle and Traffic Laws of the country. This measure is intended to enhance road safety and adherence to regulatory standards.

Crackdown on Non-Gas Station Gasoline Sellers

additionally, the LNP is calling for the removal of non-gas station gasoline sellers, commonly referred to as "can-boys," from main streets within Monrovia and across the nation. This move aims to regulate the sale of gasoline and minimize potential risks associated with unauthorized vendors.

Prohibition of Lane Misuse

The LNP also emphasizes the importance of vehicle operators refraining from using the opposite lane, highlighting the dangers associated with such practices. This measure seeks to prevent accidents and promote responsible driving habits among motorists.

Registration and Documentation Compliance

all vehicle, tri-cycle (Keke), and motorcycle owners are reminded to ensure that their vehicles are registered insured, and that all documentation is up to date. This requirement is essential for maintaining roadworthiness and ensuring legal compliance.

Ensuring Roadworthiness and Compliance

the cautionary measures outlined by the Liberia National Police are aimed at creating a safer environment for both motorists and pedestrians. Following nationwide consultations, the LNP is set to commence general inspections to enforce roadworthiness standards and ensure compliance with vehicle and traffic laws across Liberia.
These measures underscore the commitment of the Liberia National Police to prioritize public safety and uphold regulatory standards on the nation's roads.
