LNTA Takes Liberia’s Culture and Tourism Agenda to Global Forum in Russia

Liberia Joins Global Culture Talks in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, RUSSIA: Liberia is participating in the St. Petersburg International United Cultures Forum, with two officials of the Liberia National Tourism Authority representing the country at the gathering in Russia.

LNTA Board Chairman Amb. Christopher Hayes Onanuga and Mr. Steveson Tweh Seidi, Deputy Director General for Culture, Heritage and Creative Economy, are attending the forum on behalf of Liberia.

The gathering has brought together government officials, cultural leaders, artists and people working in the creative sector from different parts of the world.

Discussions at the forum are centered on culture, the protection of national heritage, the creative economy and cooperation among countries.

Liberia’s participation comes as the country continues efforts to give greater attention to tourism, culture and the creative sector, areas that remain largely underdeveloped despite the country’s history and cultural diversity.

For the Liberian delegation, the meeting also provides room to interact with representatives of other countries and institutions and explore areas where Liberia can benefit from cultural exchanges, partnerships and international cooperation.

Liberia has a wide range of traditional arts, music, festivals, historic sites and cultural practices that could play a bigger role in attracting visitors and creating opportunities for people working in the country’s creative industry.

The presence of Amb. Onanuga and Mr. Seidi at the forum therefore gives Liberia another opportunity to put those assets before an international audience and establish contacts that could support the country’s tourism and cultural programs.

The St. Petersburg International United Cultures Forum is an international platform that brings countries and cultural institutions together to exchange experiences and discuss ways of preserving culture while creating new opportunities for the creative sector.

Liberia’s delegation is expected to continue engagements with other participants during the forum as the country looks to strengthen its international cultural connections.
