''No More Green and Blue Liberia" VP Koung Mounts Call for a United Country

Capitol Hill: Vice President of Liberia and President of the Liberian Senate, Jeremiah Koung has called on citizens to eliminate what he termed as the idea of a ‘Green or Blue Liberia’ and promote peace and reconciliation across the Country.

Delivering his first special statement following his inauguration, the former District 1 Representative in Nimba County told members of the Liberian Senate that the 2023 elections are over and it is now time Liberians embrace such a new mindset.

At the 4th Day Sitting of the 1st Session of the Liberian senate, VP Koung stressed the need to give every Liberian the opportunity to contribute his or her quota to nation-building something which he believes will fast stack the developmental process of the country.

He pointed out that the government has a shared responsibility to promote reconciliation and demonstrate true leadership in bringing the people together under the umbrella of peace and national development.

According to him, the results obtained from the October 10, 2023 presidential and legislative elections point to the diversity of the political views and aspirations of the people.

At the same time, the Vice President of Liberia has however lauded former President George Manneh Weah and former Vice President, Jewel Howard-Taylor for their stewardship over the last six years.

VP Koung believes that the ultimate winners in these elections are the Liberian people who are the true custodians of peace and democracy.

He also congratulated all senators for a hard-fought campaign and welcomed all newly elected senators who have joined the body to continue the legacy of service to the Liberian people. 

" Over the last few months, the survival of our nation's demoncary was tested through a competitive presidential and Legislative elections; while these elections were not void of attending challenges, our people exhibited a character of resilience in testament to their belief in the ideas of demoncary, peace and national development" Vice President Koung said. 

Meanwhile, the former Nimba County Senator has encourage members of that august body to let go the many challenges Liberians are face with.
