Passionate Female Reporter Wins Outstanding Female "Journalist of the Year" BELIATCH AWARD

Monrovia: Seasoned female Reporter, Aminata S. Kromah over the   weekend emerged as the Outstanding Female Journalist of the Year for the second phase of YUGNET LIBERIA BELIATCH AWARD 2023/2024.

 

The YUGNET BELIATCH AWARD with passionate driven story on human rights and human interest as well as education and a powerful five minute PowerPoint presentation on the full workings in the media landscape, as professed by the vetting team, qualified this award.

 

As the Outstanding Female Award Winner amongst five top contestants, she walked away with a Certificate of Achievement enriching her professional growth and development.

 

Other winners of the Awards include: Nathan B. Vah of Kool FM emerged as the Independent Journalist of the Year 2024.

 

Speaking during the Awards ceremony held at the famous Houston Hall, Monrovia Vocational Training Center on the Japanese Freeway Sunday,  January 28, 2024 Mr. Godsent Whelmogar,  Executive Director of  YUGNET LIBERIA expressed excitement seeing young people making impact in the society.

 

BELIATCH is the acronym representing Business, Entrepreneur, Leadership, Innovation, Agriculture, Technology, and Climate Change as well as Human rights advocacy or Humanitarian work while YUGNET LIBERIA is the acronym for Youth go green network Liberia, a Youth led Organizations that focuses on the promotion of the UN sixteen developmental goal with areas including; Social Justice, Environmental sustainability, Health, Quality Education, Gender inclusion, innovation and Technology or Digital Campaigning, Human Rights advocacy and Civic Education. It was established on August 19, 2019.

 

YUGNET is within five Counties across Liberia, including; Bassa, Gbarpolu, Bong, Margibi and Montserrado Counties.

 

"This award program is indeed intended to capture the untold achievement of young people, those positively impacting the society and this award ceremony came into being two years ago; the YUGNET LIBERIA started about five years ago as an emerging organization but we have graduated from this stage to gaining an NGO Status and also the first youth led organization to have a partnership with Firestone Liberia and we are into recycling," he said.

 

He stressed that the award aims to bring forth the talents of young people in every profession to inspire and motivate them in doing more through their career.

 

"Most of our wok we do are not documented and people don't see it likewise most of the youths that run their social media and organizations and people don't know exactly what you are doing out there, people don't know you and haven't seen any so that's why the BELIATCH AWARD came about to unearth the hidden talents of the young people," the institution boss averred.

 

The BELIATCH Awards Ceremony was funded by Actionaid Liberia and other Partners and organized by the YUGNET LIBERIA which seeks to highlight the accomplishment and to serve as an encouragement to others, building a positive and competitive mindset to foster innovation, creativity and implementation of positive initiative amongst young change makers.

 

Meanwhile, award winner Aminata S. Kromah is a multimedia Liberian Journalist with more than Six years of experience in the professional field.

 

Previously in 2023, Aminata won the Media Personality of the Year in the Female Leadership Icon award ceremony hosted by the National Youth Parliament of Liberia and she also emerged as emerging Leader of the Year from the awards program hosted by the Iniative for Care and Sustainability.

 

She is currently into mainstream journalism, a contributor at Oracle Daily Newspaper and Youth Leader for many Youth led Organizations.
