Capitol Hill: The Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Justice has withdrawn all criminal charges against controversial social media talk show host, Nayabougua Oldpa Yeazeahn, Alias Prophet Key.
In a complaint filed to the Monrovia City Court Madam Endee accused Yeazeahn of allegedly defaming and humiliating her through his social media talk show
It can be recalled on February 5, Madam Endee filed a complaint against Prophet Key at the Monrovia City Court where she said the Facebook podcast was wilfully, intentionally, and purposefully used to demean her character.
Following days of appearance at the court after the issuance of a writ of arrest, Madam Endee according to court records, through her legal team drop the charges of criminal coercion, menacing, and disorderly conduct, against Prophet Key.
Prosecution also noted that dropping the charges against the defendant in the proceedings was due to a lack of sufficient evidence to prosecute but has the right to refile, if the need arises.
"Prosecution prays Your Honor and this honorable court to invoke chapter 18 section 18.1 of the Criminal Procedure law on the below case thereby ensuring the plea of nolle prose-quoi of the charge of Criminal Coercion, Menacing and Disorderly Conduct against the defendant in these proceedings due to lack of sufficient evidence to prosecute"
However, Endee has denied dropping the charges against the defendant and vowed to prove the crimes against Prophet Key in court. She further calls on the court to do the needful by giving her case due diligence.
Meanwhile, Monrovia City Court Magistrate Ben Barco has accepted prosecution request to dismiss the charges following the agreement to nolle prose-quoi the case due to insufficient evidence.
The agreement was signed by prosecution lawyer Cllr. Swahilo Sesay, Acting County Attorney for Montserrado and others while defendant Yeazeahn was represented by Cllr. Samwar Fallah and others.
