Senate Unanimously Confirms Cornelia W. Kruah as Youth and Sports Minister
Monrovia, Liberia: The Liberian Senate has unanimously confirmed Cornelia Wonkerleh Kruah as Minister of Youth and Sports, granting full legislative backing to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s nomination.
The decision followed the Minister-designate’s appearance before the Senate, where she outlined priorities centered on youth empowerment, institutional reform, and strengthening Liberia’s sports development framework.
Kruah brings prior government experience to the role, having served as Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs. Her confirmation places her at the helm of a ministry widely seen as critical to addressing Liberia’s youth-driven demographic realities.
Speaking during earlier engagements, Kruah emphasized the need for more structured and sustainable youth programs, highlighting employment pathways, skills development, and the use of sports as a vehicle for national cohesion and opportunity.
With Senate approval secured, Kruah is expected to formally assume duties at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, where attention will now turn to the implementation of her policy agenda.
