Supreme Court Orders Nora Finda Bundoo Released Pending August 4 Conference

MONROVIA, Liberia: The Supreme Court of Liberia has ordered the temporary release of former Executive Mansion Chief of Protocol Nora Finda Bundoo while it reviews her legal challenge against a ruling by Criminal Court “C.”

The decision was issued on Wednesday, July 22, by Associate Justice Yussif D. Kaba, who is presiding in Chambers. Justice Kaba also summoned Criminal Court “C” Judge Ousman F. Feika to appear at a conference scheduled for August 4, 2026, to hear arguments related to Bundoo’s petition for a Writ of Prohibition.

Bundoo filed the petition against Judge Feika, naming him as the first respondent. The Asset Recovery and Property Retrieval Task Force (AREPT), through its Chairman, Cllr. Edwin K. Martin, and the Ministry of Justice are listed as the second respondents.

Pending the outcome of the conference, the Supreme Court directed Judge Feika to release Bundoo into the custody of her lawyers, Cllr. M. Watkins Wright and Cllr. Abraham Wade Simpson.

As part of the release conditions, the Court ordered Bundoo to surrender her passport to the Sheriff of Criminal Court “C” until the matter is resolved.

The ruling temporarily suspends the lower court’s decision that ordered Bundoo’s detention at the Monrovia Central Prison after rejecting her second criminal appearance bond and setting a new bond of US$8 million in the corruption case involving allegations of public fund diversion and money laundering.

Bundoo’s lawyers are asking the Supreme Court to stop enforcement of the Criminal Court’s ruling while it determines whether the lower court acted within the law.

The August 4 conference will determine whether the Supreme Court grants the Writ of Prohibition or allows Criminal Court “C” to continue with the prosecution.
