BMMC/CMC Workers Union Distances Herself from Proposed Protest Against the Company

We the Workers Union of Bea Mountain Mining Corporation/CMC are in the strongest terms distancing ourselves from a purported 32 counts issued against our company by a few a few unidentified community members linking themselves with the workers.

Over the weekend, some citizens under the banner, "Citizens of Grand Cape Mount County and Workers of BMMC" petitioned the Liberian Government, citing 32 counts against our company to be addressed with pressure from the government.

We the membership of the BMMC Workers Union want to unequivocally clarify that we have no knowledge of the mentioned petition, and we have not been involved in any discussion or action related to such a statement, including the allegations contained in the document.

We regard such a petition as political and not in line with the responsibilities of our Union.

We the BMMC Workers Union want to also emphasize that we respect every institution within the community, as well as the rights of the company, and are not in a position to overstep our bounds.

"It is important to emphasize that the primary focus of our Union organization is confined to matters within our working environment and labor-related issues. We maintain a stance of political neutrality and are not affiliated with any political organization or issue," the release added.

The leadership of BMMC Workers Union is also warning those planning to stage protest and issuing purported petitions and hiding behind members of the Union to immediately desist.

We the BMMC Workers Union want to reiterate  our commitment to working with our management in the interest of our membership, and should there be any issue of concern, there is an appropriate way to engage our management.
