BREAKING NEWS: Justice Yormi Gbeisay Disagrees with the Court’s Opinion

Monrovia, Liberia: The Supreme Court of Liberia has concluded that Representative J. Fonati Koffa remains the only legally recognized Speaker of the House of Representatives, effectively halting any efforts to replace him by the majority bloc.
The Court’s decision centers on the violation of the Constitution, which prohibits any House session being led by a lawmaker other than the elected Speaker, unless the Speaker is absent or incapacitated. Chief Justice Sie-A-Nyene G. Yuoh delivered a clear and authoritative statement, declaring:
“Any meeting led by someone else while the elected Speaker is present is against the Constitution.”
This ruling has profound implications for the majority bloc’s actions, as they have been ordered to comply with the decision moving forward.
